Mother Land and Freedom is (2009)

Mother Land and Freedom is was presented at the Platform exhibition, held at the Defense Security Command Korea. I found a military handkerchief when I first visited the site, and its pattern resembled a ritual object from the Bronze Age in Korea with eight bells attached to it. To work in this space I asked for the advice of a chi specialist. From this, I created An Infinite Yin Energy Amplifying Furniture with mother of pearl, water and aluminum, which are considered to have strong Yin energy. Based on the belief that sound waves could physically alter space, I asked a Korean traditional vocalist to sing a Jeongga using the Defense Security Command’s military lyrics, and replayed the recorded sounds at the exhibition site.

조국과 자유는 (2009)

이 작품은 기무사에서 진행되었던 "플랫폼"에 전시 되었던 작품이다. 처음 기무사에 방문했을 때, 그곳에 우연히 떨어져있던 군인용 손수건을 발견한 나는 그 손수건에 그려진 문양이 우리나라 청동기 시대의 종교 의식에 사용되었던 8개 종이 달린 유물과 흡사하다고 생각했다. 이와 함께, 풍수 전문가에게 받은 전시 공간에 대한 조언을 바탕으로 강한 ‘음’에너지를 내재하고 있다고 알려진 자개, 물, 알루미늄을 이용해 ‘'음'에너지 무한 증폭 가구’를 제작했다. 소리의 파장이 물리적으로 공간을 변화시킬 수 있다는 믿음을 토대로, 국악가에게 기무사의 군가를 정가 형식으로 불러달라고 한 후, 녹음하여 전시 공간에 반복하여 재생했다.
